Mrs. Earl Grabau Funeral Services In Cresco Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Earl Grabau, 55, of the Bonair community, who died in the Cresco hospital Friday afternoon soon after suffering a heart attack at her home, were held in the Cresco Methodist church Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Grabau had been in ill health for several months.

Conducting the services was the Rev. Paul Somerville, with burial in the Phillips cemetery, at Bonair. The Bradley Funeral home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Grabau, the former Manchile Theodosia Hunter, was born near Lime Springs, January 14, 1903, the daughter of Albert Hunter and the late Mrs. Hunter of Lime Springs.

She attended the Lime Springs public schools and grew to maturity in that community. During her girlhood days she became a member of the Methodist church, later transferring her membership to the Bonair Methodist church.

She was married to Earl Lawrence Grabau at Cresco, in October, 1923. They moved to Olin where Mr. Grabau served as high school principal. The next four years were spent at Morley, where Mr. Grabau was superintendent, and the following 15 years at Lakota. They returned to the local community from Dodge Center in 1945 where Mr. Grabau served on the school faculty.

Mrs. Grabau was active in social and civic organizations. She was especially active in the Women’s Society for Christian Service of her church and was until health prevented her, a stewardess at the Bonair Methodist church.

Surviving Mrs. Grabau are her husband, her father and stepmother, and three children, Mrs. Gerald (Althea Elaine) Hilliard of Saint Paul, Roger of Cresco, and Mrs. Stanley (Janet Mae) Austin of Minneapolis.

Also surviving are one grandson and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Farrar of Spencer, and Mrs. Dolly Mears of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Preceding Mrs. Grabau in death were her mother and a brother, Basil.
