Alfred Bachmann, 81, funeral on Saturday

Funeral services for Alfred Carl Bachmann, 81, Alta Vista, were held Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Maple Leaf. The Rev. Bernhardt Polesky officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Alfred C. Bachmann died Oct. 29 at his home from heart failure.

He was born Jan. 16, 1900, in Charles City, the son of William and Ernestine Bachmann. He married Ella Groth on Oct. 27, 1926, at Maple Leaf and was the father of four children. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Maple Leaf Lutheran church.

Survivors include his three daughters, Mrs. John (Lorraine) Hollingworth, Mrs. Melvin (Avis) Johnson and Mrs. James (Ila) Van Kilsdonk; two sisters, Emma Hasbrouch, and Irma Manning, St. Petersburg, Fla.

He is preceded in death by his wife and one sister, and one daughter, Elma Bachmann.
