Mrs. Belle Perry

Mrs. Belle Perry died at her home six miles west of Cresco early Friday morning, Oct. 25, 1946. Mrs. Perry enjoyed her customary good health until the last, death coming peacefully while she slept.

Following a prayer service in the family home Sunday afternoon, the funeral was held in the Cresco Methodist church, the Rev. Geo. W. Turner officiating. C. C. Nichols sang “In the Garden” and a quartet, Mrs. Paul Nagel, Miss Margaret Lease, C. C. Nichols and Rev. Turner, sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.” Burial was in the family lot in Howard Center cemetery.

Pallbearers

Pallbearers were Mrs. Perry’s three sons, Thomas, Harry and Chester, a nephew, Gene Perry and two sons-in-law, Charles Fish and Frank McAvinchey.

Deceased’s maiden name was Belle Young. She was a daughter of James and Margaret Young She was born near the present town of Elma, Iowa Sept. 21, 1867.

On July 15, 1889, she was married to Herbert L. Perry at Cresco, Ia. After a few years spent at Fresno, Calif., the couple returned to the original Perry farm where she passed away. To this marriage eight children were born, all of whom survive: Thomas of Ames; Mrs. F. L. McAvinchey, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Ashley Richards, Buffalo, N. Y.; Mrs. Chas. Fish, Lime Springs; Edith of York, Neb.; Harry, Leslie and Chester, all of near Cresco.

Lived With Children

Following the death of her husband in 1933, Mrs. Perry made her home with her three youngest children, Leslie, Chester and Edith, all of whom bestowed upon her, loving care and attention. Her life was noted for quietness and serenity of demeanor and her versatility in adapting herself to her surroundings and conditions. At an early age she became a member of the Baptist church.

Besides the above named children, she is survived by two sisters, two brothers, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. May the example of her calmness of disposition long be remembered and followed.

Perry, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Root, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Zack, Mr. Doty, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. F. L. McAvinchey and sons Pat, Tom and Joe, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. F. A. Richards and Jane, Bowmansville, N. Y.; Mrs. C. R. Pederson and David Fish, Mt. Vernon, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Hansen, Hayfield, Minn.; Edith Perry and Kathleen Hergott of York, Neb.

Card of Thanks

The kindness and sympathy of neighbors and friends in our recent sorrow will always remain with us a previous memory. We extend our thanks and gratitude for every comforting act.
