Carl Melver, Sr., 93, services held Monday

Services for Carl Melver, Sr., 93, were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, in First Lutheran Church, Cresco. The Rev. Gary Lee officiated with interment in Howard Center Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons: Gary Melver, Jim Melver, Tracy Melver, David Melver, Joe Schorr and Reed Stevenson. Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home made the arrangements.

He died February 14 at the Cresco Care Center.

Carl Melver, Sr. was born May 17, 1892, in Saude, the son of Andrew and Ellen (Anderson) Melver. He married Eva Henderson on October 15, 1920, in Austin, MN. Carl was a farm laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Eva, a resident of the Cresco Care Center; 10 sons – Robert of El Paso, TX, Richard of Preston, MN, Kermit of Shell Rock, Thomas, Earl of Arlington, Carl Jr. (Jim) of Cresco, George of Hawkeye, Norman, Leonard and Oscar, all of Lime Springs; three daughters – Mrs. Alvin (Grace) Schorr of Cresco; Mrs. Raymond (Wanda) Sly of Guthrie Center and Mrs. Robert (Ann) Balk of Goodell; also 36 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John and Edward who died in childhood; five grand and great grandchildren; also five brothers and five sisters.
