W. F. Pittelko, 82, Buried Yesterday At Howard Center
Funeral services for William Frank Pittelko, 82, of Cresco, who died in his home Sunday morning following a year’s illness, were held at the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.
Conducting the funeral services was the pastor, the Rev. E. C. Franke. Burial was in the Howard Center cemetery with the Bradley Funeral home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Pittelko, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julius Pittelko, was born in Germany September 22, 1879. He came to America with his parents when he was five years of age. His parents farmed near Davis Corners.
Mr. Pittelko was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Germany and was confirmed at the former Davis Corners Lutheran church. For the last 43 years he was a member of the Cresco Immanuel Lutheran church. He had helped in the construction of the present church building in 1922.
He was married to Susan Steffen in Cresco April 16, 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Pittelko became the parents of six children, five of whom survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Pittelko farmed in the Cresco community until 1942 when they moved to Cresco. The Cresco man then worked for the county for about eight years before retiring.
Surviving Mr. Pittelko, besides his wife, are his sons, Carl of Portland, Oregon, and Walter and Albert of Cresco, and his daughters, Mrs. Archie (Viola) Hensley and Mrs. Carl (Alvina) Grinhaug of Cresco.
There are a sister, Mrs. Ben Heidtke of Tacoma, Washington, three step-brothers, and two step-sisters, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Pittelko in death were a son, Ben, who died at the age of 23, and three brothers, Albert, Arthur and Charles.
