Edward Worple, 61, funeral at Riceville

Funeral services for Edward S. Worple, 61, were held Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peter's Lutheran church in Riceville. The Rev. B. Hinrichs officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

Edward S. Worple died at his home on Nov. 21, after suffering for many years with emphysema.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1915, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Worple in Elma. He attended school in the Howard county schools and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church, Riceville. On Nov. 1, 1933, he married Frieda DeVries and was the father of six children. His life was spent in farming until his retirement.

Edward S. Worple is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Lavonne) Roethler and Mrs. Robert (Dianne) Joens, both of Riceville; four sons, Fred, Waterloo, John, Merle and Jim, all of Elma; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
