Virgil Mackenburg

Virgil Leo Mackenburg, 92, died Friday night in the Hemphill Care Center in Hemphill, Texas. Memorial services will be announced by the family at a later date.

He was born in Cresco to George and Ada Volkering Mackenburg. Virgil lived and worked on the family farm in Cresco all his life until coming to Hemphill four years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Mackenburg of Hemphill; his son, Dale Mackenburg and his wife, Jill, of Hemphill; three grandchildren: Paula, Dean and Richard; and five great-grandchildren.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Grube; and brother-in-law, Harold Grube.
