Services to be held for G. Dotzler

Memorial services for Gerald Dotzler formerly of Cresco and Mabel, MN will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco with Rev. David Schatz, nephew, officiating. Conway Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Gerald, 74, died Thursday, March 28, 2002 in Tucson, AZ.

Gerald Dotzler was born May 20, 1927 near Cresco, the son of Henry Sr. and Clara (Morgan) Dotzler. He served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and 1947.

On June 27, 1950 he married Leoba Schatz at St. Joseph’s Church in Cresco. He farmed in the Cresco and Mabel areas before retiring to Arizona in 1979. He helped start a fire protection business in 1981, then moved to Tucson in 1983.

His hobby was iron work.

He is survived by his wife Leoba; seven sons: Gary of Gilbert, AZ, Jeff of Casper, WY, Dan of Rosemount MN, Mark of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly of Fountain Hills, AZ, Chad of St. Joseph, MN, and Clair of Tucson, AZ; four daughters: Kathy Schmitt of Cresco, Kristy Olerud of Phoenix, AZ, LeAnn Brune of Leesburg, IN, and Monica Delbridge of Chandler, AZ, 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Evelyn McKitrick; and one brother: Henry, Jr.

A Memorial Service for Gerald Dotzler, formerly of Cresco, Iowa and Mabel, Minn., will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco. The Rev. David Schatz, nephew, will officiate the service.
Gerald Dotzler, 74, died Thursday, March 28, 2002 in Tucson, Ariz.
Dotzler was born on May 20, 1927 near Cresco, the son of Henry Sr. and Clara (Morgan) Dotzler. He served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and 1947.
On June 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Leoba Schatz at St. Joseph’s Church in Cresco. He farmed in the Cresco and Mabel areas before retiring to Arizona in 1979. He helped start a fire protection business in 1981, then moved to Tucson in 1983. Gerald kept busy doing various part-time jobs as well as his hobby of iron work. He will be remembered as a good storyteller, a good friend and a great father and husband.
Dotzler is survived by his wife Leoba; sons: Gary (Kim) of Gilbert, Ariz., Jeff of Casper, Wyom., Dan (Stacy) of Rosemount, Minn., Mark (Elizabeth) of Phoenix, Ariz., Kelly (Becky) of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; Chad (Kelly) of St. Joseph, Minn., and Clair (Sharon) of Tucson, Ariz.; and daughters: Kathy (Dan) Schmitt of Cresco, Iowa, Kristy Olerud (Dave Knutson) of Phoenix, LeAnn (Jason) Brune or Leesburg, Ind., and Monica (Darryl) Delbridge of Chandler, Ariz; and 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Evelyn McKitrick and his brother Henry Dotzler, Jr.
