Mrs. Fred Daws

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Daws were held at the Daws home in the northwest part of town last Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. James Fleck, pastor of the Baptist church, officiated. Burial was in the Howard County cemetery.

Mrs. Lottie Sophia Daws was born March 28, 1869, at Mineral Point, Wis., and passed away at her home in Cresco, Jan. 23, 1940, at the age of 71 years.

She was united in marriage with Mr. Fred Daws on Sept. 25, 1889, at Howard Center, Ia., by the Rev. Ray, then pastor of the Cresco Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Daws have spent their long married life in Iowa and celebrated their golden anniversary with fitting observance at their home here Sept. 25, 1939.

To this union were born three children, Arthur G. and Ralph L. Daws and Mabel, who is Mrs. Fred Ramaker of Lime Springs.

She leaves to mourn her husband, the three children, 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Daws has been a member of the Baptist church for over fifty years and has had the interest of the kingdom of God at heart all of that time. During all of her sickness she manifested a strong faith in God. She holds the honor of having been a charter member of the Woman’s Relief Corps.

She was a kind and loving wife and a devoted mother and was a blessing to those who are left behind. We can indeed say “Blessed be the Lord that gave” and while our hearts are bowed with grief we must remember that he doeth all things well and say, “Blessed be the Lord that taketh away.”

Attending the funeral from a distance were Ralph Daws of Egan, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Biwer and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Carroll, Elma, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lathrop and Harry Lathrop of Austin, Minn.
