Funeral services for Mrs. Marcus Stockman, formerly of Cresco, were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, in the Methodist church at Burr Oak. She died at her home two miles south of Burr Oak Saturday, February 19, following four years of ill health. Services were held at the Winneshiek County Burial Association’s funeral home at Decorah and burial was at Burr Oak.
Mrs. Stockman was 68 years old. Her maiden name was Lottie Townsend. She was born near Burr Oak and lived the greater part of her life on a farm. In her youth she taught in the rural schools and for a time was assistant postmistress in the Harmony, Minn., postoffice. The Stockman family lived in Cresco for several years, having their home which they owned on West Fourth street. They left here about ten years ago. Mrs. Stockman was highly respected wherever she lived.
She is survived by Mr. Stockman and two sons, Perry, known as “Ole” who is at home and Fred of Houston, Minn. There are three grandchildren, Gloria, James and Madeline. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stockman attended the funeral. The latter is the former Miss June Mitchell of Cresco.
