Funeral Mass for Tarsilla M. Hyberger will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 16, 2012 at the Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, IA. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery following the service. Friends may call at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco from 4-7 P.M. on Wednesday August 15, 2012. Scripture service will be held around 7 pm. Visitation will continue for 1 hr prior to the service at Notre Dame Church. Tarsilla M. Hyberger, age 88, of Cresco died Sunday morning August 12, 2012 at the Hospital in Cresco. Tarsilla Margaret Reicks was born November 25, 1923 in Festina, IA to Raymond H. Reicks and Mary Ann Baumler. She attended school through the 8th grade and later obtained her GED. She continued her education in Minneapolis, MN for nursing. During World War II she was a “Rosie the Riveter” working in Burbank, CA on B-17 Bombers. After the War Tarsilla worked as a nurse for over 40 years. Over the years she worked as a nurse in Minneapolis, Waukon, Decorah, Austin and Cresco. For 16 years she was the owner and Administrator of the Hyberger Nursing Home in Cresco and later worked at Evans Memorial Home for 18 years. Tarsilla was united in marriage to Raymond G. Hyberger on September 20, 1952 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Cresco. He passed away on June 1, 1995. Tarsilla enjoyed traveling, going to Europe 3 times, and visiting all but 3 of the states in the United States. She traveled through Egypt, Gaza, Israel, Jordan, and Palestine. She also traveled to see Pope John Paul the II when he visited Iowa. Tarsilla volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Hospice of Howard County, and served as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher and was a pink lady at Regional Health Services of Howard County. She enjoyed walking, cooking and reading and after she turned 65 bought a set of golf clubs and took up golfing. She is survived by her 4 sons; Ronald (Donna) Hyberger of Cresco, IA, Mark (Karla) Hyberger of Litchfield, MN, Dana (Linda) Hyberger of Rochester, MN and Patrick (Jody) Hyberger of Wykoff, MN, 7 grandchildren; Cary, Christopher, Jessica, Samuel, Kathryn, Maxwell and Peter, 3 step-grandchildren; Mark, Brady and Ashley, Great grandchildren Grace and Townes and step-great-grandchildren Conner, Courtney and Shane. Also surviving are 2 brothers Denis Reicks and Nestor (Dolly) Reicks both of Cresco. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Cleo, Geneva, Rufina and Dell.
