Josie Ferkingstad services held Tues.

Services for Josie Ferkingstad, 89, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary K. Lee and Intern Kristine Totzke officiated. Interment was in the Howard Center Cemetery with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She died April 27, 1991, at Evans Memorial Home.

Josie Ferkingstad was born October 16, 1901, in Howard County, the daughter of Nels and Martha (Johnson) Ferkingstad. She was baptized in the Synod Lutheran Church in Cresco and confirmed in the Jerico Lutheran Church.

Josie attended the rural schools and made her home in the rural area before moving to Cresco in 1924. Josie worked at the Cresco Hotel for 26 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church for many years.

Her only survivors are nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mena Thompson, Mabel Sperley, Ovidia Ferkingstad and Nettie, who died in infancy; also two brothers, Oscar and Enus.
