Jane Irvine was born Oct. 10, 1839, at Door Village, La Porte county, Ind. In June, 1859 she came west with her parents and located near Lime Springs, Iowa, and taught school in this vicinity. In the fall of 1862 she was married to B. F. Stone. To this union were born two children – a daughter and a son – Gertrude and Will. They lived in Howard county continuously until March, 1898, when her husband departed this life. Since then her home has been with her son W. S. Stone. November 1909, she removed with them to Monticello, Minn. She passed from this life Dec. 5, 1912, at the home of her sister Mrs. C. F. Webster, Cresco, Iowa, where she was visiting. Her life was exemplary, a devoted wife and mother, a living benediction to her family, friends and with all with whom she came in touch. She is loved and will be sadly missed by all her acquaintances. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Gammons were held at the home of C. F. Webster Friday afternoon, Dec. 6th. Interment was in the Howard Center cemetery.
