Services held for Alta Daman, 88

Funeral services for Alta Daman, 88, of Clarksville and formerly of Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Waterloo with the Rev. Stanley C. Kennedy officiating. Interment was at the State Line Cemetery in Harmony, MN. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock handled the arrangements.

Alta died Wednesday evening, March 18, 1998, at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville of natural causes.

Alta was born May 26, 1909, on a farm in Winneshiek County, south of Harmony, MN, the daughter of Rupert and Luna (Benson) Barnes. She attended country school near her home and graduated from the Harmony High School and post graduate work at Cresco for Teaching. Alta taught four years in Winneshiek County rural schools.

On June 7, 1933, she married Verne Eugene Daman in New Hampton. They made their home in Cresco for 16 years, in Waterloo for 35 years and in Shell Rock for three years before Alta moved to the nursing home on June 9, 1987.

Alta is survived by her husband, Verne Daman of Clarksville; two daughtes{sic}:Phyllis Heeren of Shell Rock and Shirley Daman of Clarksville; one son: Neil Daman of Round Rock, TX; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
