Services for Joseph Volz, 92, who died Friday at the Howard County Hospital, were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 1985, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Lloyd Reuter officiated with burial in Calvary cemetery. Conway Funeral Home made the arrangements.

Joseph Volz was born in Greeley, Kansas on February 14, 1883. He served with the Army in France in World War I and following his discharge came to work in Cresco. In 1919 he married Rose Upton and farmed near Cresco until his retirement.

Joseph was a member of the American Legion, St. Joseph's Church and the Knight of Columbus.

He is survived by a sister, Philomena Centliver of Colorado Springs, CO; and two step-daughters, Rosann Sherrill of Champaign, IL and Laurel Chambers of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose, several brothers and sisters, four step-children: Roy Upton, Edward Upton, Ervin Upton and Catherine Upton: also a step-grandson, Daniel Upton.
