HOWARD COUNTY EMPLOYEE DIES AT CRESCO

Cresco – Bernard Costello, 70, a maintenance worker for Howard County, died Wednesday at the hospital here.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church here with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be said Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife, Anna; three sons; John, Linden, Michigan; Bernard Jr., Long Beach, California; James, Albuquerque, New Mexico; a daughter; Mrs. Norman Melver, Cresco; seven grandchildren, a brother and four sisters.

Bernard Costello was born in Iowa, the son of John and Lucina (McLean).

He married Anna Elizabeth Arens, the daughter of Joseph Arens and Elizabeth (Smith) Arens of Bailey, Mitchell Co., Iowa at St. Josephs’ Catholic Church in Cresco on November 28, 1933

Note* Bernards WWI Draft registration has his birth date as August 8, 1887 but his tombstone has 1881.
