Funeral services for Gertrude Rassman of Claremont, MN will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna, MN with Rev. Dennis Pettyjohn officiating.

Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.

Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Thursday, March 11 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 12 at St. John Lutheran Church from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Gertrude, 97, died Sunday, March 7, 2004 at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center, MN.

Gertrude Rassman was born February 2, 1907 in Davis Corners, the daughter of Edwin and Albertina (Vagts) Heide. Gertrude attended school in Cresco where she graduated in 1924. She was employed by Northern Iowa Telephone Co.

On February 8, 1928 she married John Rassman in Cresco. They farmed for several years in the Cresco and Riceville communities. In 1951 they moved to Claremont where they continued farming. Gertrude took a job at the Owatonna Canning Co. where she was employed for 18 years.

She is survived by three sons: Eugene of Owatonna, Gordon of Owatonna, and Robert of Saranac Lake, NY; three daughters: Betty Buss of Claremont, Loretta Moe of Owatonna, and Mary Anderson of Kasson, MN; 34 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband John; two sons: Wayne and Allen; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; her parents; two brothers: Oscar and Clarence; and one sister: Hilda.
