Margerie Lucille (Brown) Prochaska – January 17, 1903 – May 27, 2000

Funeral services for Margerie L. Prochaska, 97, of Cresco were held at 11;30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes with the Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Pall bearers were Tony Whitinger, Dan and Dick McGee, Alex and Nathan Backes and David Prochaska. Conway Funeral Home in Elma was in charge of arrangements.

Margerie died Saturday, May 27, 2000 at the Cresco Care Center.

Margerie Lucille Brown was born January 17, 1903 near Riceville the daughter of Otis Wheeler and Etta Amelia (Eastman) Brown. She attended the rural school.

In April of 1957, she married Harold Prochaska. Following their marriage they operated a restaurant in Riceville for several years before moving to Cedar Rapids. After Harold’s death, she continued living in Cedar Rapids until entering the Cresco Care Center in January of 1997.

Margerie is survived by two step-daughters, Mary McGee of Gilbertville and Millie Whitinger of Elma; four step-sons, Joe Prochaska of Eagle Grove, Jim Prochaska and Francis Prochaska, both of Milan, IL, and John Prochaska of Myrtle Beach, SC; 17 step-grandchildren; and 22 step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1994; two step-grandchildren; and two
