Lester Rae Fields 1892-1949

Cresco – Funeral services for Lester R. Fields, 57, lifelong resident of Cresco, were here Tuesday. He died at his home of a heart attack Saturday night.

He had been in poor health several months. For 23 years he was engaged in the insurance business here. Before that he was principal and athletic coach of the Cresco High School for five years from 1921 to 1926. He was an alumnus of the University of Iowa and was a past master of the Cresco Masonic Lodge and was active in all civic affairs.

A veteran of World War I, he was born here December 6, 1892, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Fields. His father died July 18th this year.

He married Miss Faith Potter of Riceville on December 31, 1921

He leaves his widow, one son; Lester C. Fields, Cresco; one brother and two sisters; Sumner J. Fields; Mrs. Leroy Salisbury; and Mrs. Leon C. DeNoyelles all of Cresco.

Lester Fields was born December 6, 1892, the son of Charles E Fields and Harriet (Crittenden) Fields.

He married Faith Potter of Riceville, the daughter of Charles George Potter and Anna (McIlravy) Potter. Faith was born March 16, 1893 in Riceville and died July 27, 1988 in Cresco.
After Lester Fields died, she married Gerald W. Hunt, the widower of Margaret (Sherwood) Hunt.
