DIES AT WAUKONCresco – Mrs. Frederick Mackenburg, 89, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Swenson in Waukon, August 21st. Services were conducted at the Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Burial was in the New Oregon Cemetery near Cresco, beside her husband who died 50 years ago to the date of her burial.She leaves a son; George Mackenburg of Cresco; a daughter Mrs. George (Theresa) Swenson of Waukon; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

August Sprung was born August 1864 in Germany, the daughter of Ferdinand Sprung and Augusta (Markhoff) Sprung. She married Frederick Mackenburg, the son of William Mackenburg and Hannah (Greenwood) Mackenburg.
Their first born daughter Agnes Julia Mackenburg died as an infant 1889-1890
Their son George John Mackenburg was born August 26, 1889 and died September 5, 1986. He is buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Cresco, Howard, Iowa.
Their daughter Theresa Mackenburg was born Apirl 14, 1900 and married George Arthur Swenson.Her parents and siblings Charles Sprung; Wilhelmina Gamrow; and Vina Sprung are also buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville,Mitchell, Iowa. In 1880 this family was in the Afton, Howard, Iowa Census:
