Charles John August Mackenburg July 29, 1873--October 14, 1926

"DEATH OF CHARLES MACKENBURG

Charles Mackenburg, the youngest son of Wm Mackenburg and his wife Hannah was born near Cresco, July 29, 1873. He was baptized in the lutheran church and confirmed in that faith March 7, 1888.

October 23, 1900 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Carolina Schultz. To this union two children were born, Archie and Lillie. The deceased ailed for some time. His condition grew worse this summer.

Sunday, Oct 10, he took communion and passed away Thursday, Oct 14, 1926 a the age of 52 years, 2 months, 15 days. He leaves to mourn, his widow, one son Archie Mackenburg, one daughter, Mrs Lillie Warrior, and two grandchildren, also the following brothers: Herman, Wm,, John and Albert Mackenburg. Fred, the oldest brother having preceded his brother in death a number of years ago. The sister, Olive, is Mrs Chris Evert, two sisters, Mrs Hass and Mrs Miller are dead.

The family has sustained a heavy loss. A good husband and father's place can never be filled. The family deserves the sympathy of everyone. Mr Mackenburg was a member of the Immanuel's Lutheran Church. funeral services were held Sunday, Oct (17) at 1:30 pm at the hbome and 2:00 at the Immanuel's Lutheran church. The spacious church was well filled.

Interment was made in New Oregon cemetery. Rev. F. Engelhart, officiating.

So Lord, we commit this our brother to thee,
Whose body is dead, but whose spirit is free;
We know that through grace when our life here is done.
We live still in thee, and forever is one."
