Monday, July 30, funeral services were held for Waukon, Iowa resident Keith Kelly, age 73, who died Friday, July 27 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Ed Lechtenberg conducted the 10:30 a.m. services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, Iowa with Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon, Iowa in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Elmer Alderdyce, Ray Burke, Charles Howe, Robert Seybert, Kenneth Troendle, and William Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Brandt, Beryl Downing, Bob Erickson, Jack Martindale, Curtis Welch, and Dale Welch.

Keith was born December 3, 1916 in Jerico, Iowa to James and Catherine (Keefe) Kelly. He attended Assumption High School in Cresco, Iowa. During World War II, he served in the military in France and England. He received the Purple Heart. On February 9, 1949 he married LaVern Joerger in Cresco, Iowa. They moved to Waukon where they owned and operated the A & W Drive-In for many years. He had previously lived in Jericho, Elma, and Cresco. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife and four sisters, Eileen Hoopman of Cresco, Lorraine Norlander of Norfolk, Nebraska, Betty Shimek of Bloomington, Illinois and Bernadine Kelly of Rochester, Minnesota.
