OBITUARY: LIME SPRINGS HERALD; Lime Springs, Howard County, IA, Thursday, September 7, 1933

TOWN'S OLDEST CITIZEN PASSES

Jane Owens was born at Llanaber, Meirionethshire, North Wales, on December 15, 1837. She was the daughter of David and Jane Owens, and was the youngest of a number of children. She came to America in 1856 and for five years resided in Caledonia, Wisconsin. In 1861 she moved to the vicinity of Bristol Grove, Minn., where during the same year she was united in marriage to John R. Williams. To this union nine children were born, one dying in infancy.

Having lived on their homestead in Bristol for 18 years, Mr. and Mrs. Williams moved to Lime Spring, Iowa, in 1909, where Mr. John R. Williams died in August 1928.

Mrs. Williams passed away early Thursday morning, August 31, 1933, at the age of 95 years, 8 months and 16 days. She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters and six sons. They are according to age: Robert J. Williams, Centuria, Wisc.; David O. Williams, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. W.E. James, Spokane, Wash.; Thomas R. Williams, Larimore, N.D.; Wm. J. Williams, Kellogg, Idaho; John D. Williams, Larrimore, N.D.; Mrs. W.B. Miller of Spokane, Wash.; and Owen D. Williams, Cresco, Iowa. Also twenty-six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams had been a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church in Lime Springs since 1909, and though she had been failing a little of late, to the end she continued to come to the Sunday services.

The call came suddenly, but it came to one who had longed for it and who was prepared and ready to receive it. We rejoice for her---but we sorrow with those left to mourn her loss.

Her funeral took place Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church with her pastor Dr. R. Lewis Jones officiating. A quartette composed of Mrs. W.W. Thomas, Mrs. Evan E. Parry, and Messrs. T.E. Price and A.G. Buchanan rendered three numbers.

Interment was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
