TIMES August 25, 1870 P3 C2

DIED--KIMBALL-At Cresco, Iowa, Friday morning August 19th, Irene S., wife of Aaron Kimball aged 40 years.

Irene S. Hatch was born October 25, 1829 in Falmouth, Mass. Was married in 1847 to Capt. Alexander Kelly in Falmouth. For 8 years her life was mostly spent on the ocean, between Liverpool and New York. Capt. Kelly was lost while crossing in the ship JOHN RUTHLIDGE in April 1855.

Her home from that time to 1858 was with her brother in New Bedford, Mass.

During this time she was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in that city, Dr. Rice, Rector.

In company with Mrs. Abraham Russell, a devoted christian lady, she served the visiting committee of the church, visiting the poor and destitute families, clothing them and bringing them into the church and sabbath school.

In March 1858 she visited her friends in Iowa and in August of that year was married to Mr. Aaron Kimball. From that period until her death Iowa has been her home.

In January 1859 she united with the Congregational Church at New Oregon of which she has continued a beloved and useful member, useful in the Sabbath school; in every good work she was always ready, ever willing to take upon herself a large share of responsibility and labor.

An affectionate wife, a tender mother, a true friend, an active and consistent member of this church, we can but mourn the loss we have sustained--our loss is her gain. Her end was the winding up of a christian life. She possessed a calm, assurance--unwavering confidence in her Savior, a joy and peace unbroken to the end. May the Great Head of the church deeply sanctify the event to us all.

She has gone to her home in the skies, leaving a dear little girl unconscious of the loss she has sustained, a beloved husband to our sympathy and our prayers.
