Kenneth Robert Kakac was born November 22, 1920 in Cresco, Iowa to John and Anna (Broen) Kakac. He was raised in Cresco, graduating with the Class of 1938. Kenneth worked at the Kakac Store before serving in the Merchant Marines during WWII.
On August 14, 1945 he married Gladys Henning in Cresco. He worked for the State Highway Commission, then the Conservation Commission working in Burlington, Waukon, Ankeny, and Elkart. After retiring, they moved to Slegman, MO and then to Pleasantville, Iowa in 1988. Kenneth was a member of St.Paul's United Methodist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge No. 128 AF & AM, Scottish Rite, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
He died Monday, January 4, 1999 at Monroe County Hospital in Albia, Iowa at the age of 78. Surviving are his wife, two sons and their wives, Chuck and Becky of Indianola, Iowa and Steven and Candi of Lutz, FL; two daughters and their husbands, Sandra and John Willson of Burlington, Iowa and Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Jeff Jenkins, DVMs of Lebanon, MO; two brothers, Jerry of Indianapolis, IN, and Dick of Bisbee, FL; two sisters, Elizabeth Flanagan of Soda Springs, ID, and Doris Howard of Athens, GA; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held Friday, January 8 at St. Paul's UMC, Pleasantville at 11 a.m. The body was cremated. *The newspaper clipping did not state if there was a place for burial.*
