CRESCO - Funeral services for lone E. Bronner of Cresco, IA were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Cresco. Interment was held in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA handled the arrangements.

lone, 88, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

lone Evangeline Lafonda Bronner was born May 16, 1920 the daughter of Charles and Pauline (Baumgartner) Hoppie on a farm near Chester, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Martin's Lutheran Church at Davis Corners, IA. lone graduated from Lime Springs High School in 1938. She worked as an operator at the Lime Springs Telephone Company until her marriage to Robert Burdette Bronner. They were married on April 17, 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lime Springs, IA.

lone worked with her husband on the Bronner family farm in Albion Township in Howard County, briefly taking a job at HECO Manufacturing in Harmony, MN.

She loved gardening, raising flowers and vegetables for the family table and to can or freeze. Sewing, knitting, and crocheting were among her handiwork skills. lone loved music and served as church pianist for many years at Zion United Methodist Church where she was a member all of her married life. She was a good cook, generously treating family and friends to delicious meals and desserts.

lone enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips and visiting relatives. She liked to go camping and fishing. She was an active member of the Cresco Garden Club, Chat-n-Do, Homemaker's Club, Shuffle Club, Zion UMW, and Lime Springs Senior Citizens. She did volunteer work for the Howard County Historical Society.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Burdette Bronner; three sons: Dennis (Martha Ann) of Woodland Park, CO, Kelvin (Terri) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Brent (Patsy) of Cresco, IA; six grandchildren: Jason (Anna) Bronner of Lock Haven, PA, Jennifer (Chris) McGhee of Broomfield, CO, Nathan Bronner of Iowa City, IA, Luke Bronner of Mount Vernon, IA, Sarah Bronner of Minneapolis, MN, Robyn Bronner of Chicago, IL; and one great-grandson: Keaton McGhee.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Pauline Hoppie and three sisters: Esther Buhr, Berdina Schultz, and Gladys Renken.
