Harry 0. Walter Dies Wednesday; Funeral Saturday

Funeral services for Harry O. Walter, 84, retired Cresco area farmer, who died in the Cresco Good Samaritan center last Wednesday, were held at the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church Saturday afternoon.

Had Mr. Walter lived three more days he would have observed his eighty-fifth birthday anniversary.

The Rev. Edward A. Schaller, pastor, conducted the funeral services, and burial was in the Cedar Hill cemetery. The Bradley Funeral home had charge of the funeral arrangements.

Harry Otto Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Walter, was born in Albion township, January 20, 1877.

Mr. Walter, who received his education in the stone schoolhouse near his parents' farm, was never married. After farming for 27 years, he retired because of illness in 1928. After retiring, Mr. Walter made his home with his brother, Louis, and in the summer of 1953, he entered the Good Samaritan center.

Mr. Walter was a member of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church all of his life. He served as steward of the church for 10 years and trustee for 25 years.

Surviving Mr. Walter are a brother, Leonard of Cresco, and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Emma) Piehn of Harmony.

Preceding Mr. Walter in death were eight brothers and three sisters.
