H. H. Walter, 74, Buried Tuesday In Zion Church

Funeral services for Herbert H. Walter, 74, of Cresco, who died in a Cedar Falls rest home Saturday, were held at the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church, north of Cresco, yesterday afternoon.

The Rev. Edward A. Schauer, pastor, conducted the services and burial was made in the Cedar Hill cemetery, north of Cresco. The Bradley Funeral home was in charge of the funeral services.

Herbert Henry Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Walter, was born in Howard county June 27, 1884. He received his education at the "Stone schoolhouse" near his parents' farm in north west Albion township.

He joined the Zion Evangelical church, now the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church, in 1901.

During his early adult life he farmed on the farm across the road from his parents. He remained on this farm until he retired in the spring of 1950. He interrupted his farming operations for a year, 1916, to care for his aged parents in Cresco.

Retiring from the farm, Mr. Walter lived in Cresco until 1954 when he entered the Western home in Cedar Falls. The last 19 months of his life he spent in the home in Cedar Falls. His death followed a long period of illness.

Surviving Mr. Walter are two brothers, Harry and Leonard, both of Cresco, and one sister, Mrs. Herman (Emma) Piehn of Harmony. There are also a number of nephews and nieces

Preceding Mr. Walter in death were seven brothers and three sisters.
