MRS. S. C. JEFFERS

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 15, at 2 o'clock at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cresco, for Mrs. S. C. Jeffers who passed away at her home after a prolonged illness, May 12, 1942. Rev. A. L. Walker conducted the services and interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mary Ann Bronner was born April 14, 1870, in Albion Township, the daughter of John and Mary Bronner. She received her education in the rural school and grew to womanhood in that community.

She was united in marriage to Sherman C. Jeffers, Nov. 16, 1893, and soon after they went to Hampton, Iowa, to make their home. To this union there were born three children: Ruth, who died in infancy, Gordon B. Jeffers of Minneapolis and Mrs. Blanche Cleveland of Cresco.

In 1911 Mr. and Mrs. Jeffers moved back to Cresco where they have since resided, and where, in spite of all that medical skill and loving care could do to heal and alleviate her suffering, she passed away May 12 at the age of 72 years and 28 days.

As a girl, Mary Ann attended the Zion Church and was baptized and later joined the church in Hampton. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and an excellent neighbor, loved and respected by all who knew her. To her pastor and to others she expressed her trust in Christ; her readiness and willingness to meet Him. She was dearly loved by her husband and children who will miss her sadly.

Beside her husband and two children, the deceased is survived by four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs, Kate Dunbar of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Alma Kuene and a brother, Albert Bronner, both of whom reside in Albion Township. These, with a host of other relatives and friends mourn her departure.
