Mathilda Walter, 94, services held June 6

Services for Mathilda E. Walter, 94, were held June 6 at Zion Methodist Church, rural Cresco at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Woodin officiated with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She died May 29 at East Wenatchee, Washington.

Mathilda Elizabeth Walter, daughter of Michael and Carylon Kratz, was born on August 1,1889, on a farm near Ridgeway. She attended the rural schools in Winneshiek County and also the Evangelical Church near Ridgeway for many years.

On March 12, 1912, she was united in marriage to Louis Robert Walter. They became the parents of three sons, Ervin, Virgil and Dale. They farmed in Albion township for 40 years where she was a member of Zion Evangelical Church. After leaving the farm, Mathilda moved to Marion, then later to Wenatchee, Washington, to live with her son, Dale.

Survivors are two sons, Ervin of rural Cresco and Dale Walter of Wenatchee, Wash.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; also a sister, Hattie Walter of Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1946, a son, Virgil in 1953, and two grandchildren.
