EDWARD H. SCHUMAN DIED SATURDAY AT HOME NORTH OF CRESCO
Funeral Services Held at Zion Church Yesterday Afternoon.
Funeral services for Edward H. G. Schuman, age 62, of Cresco, who died in his farm home, seven miles north of Cresco, late Saturday night, were held in the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church, northwest of Cresco, yesterday afternoon.
The services were conducted by the Rev. H. A. Stenberg, pastor, and burial was in the Cedar Hill cemetery, just west of the Zion church. Mr. Schuman had been critically ill since December.
Edward Henry Gottlieb Schuman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Schuman. He was born In Winona, Minnesota, April 22, 1886, one of a family of eight.
Mr. Schuman's father died In Winona, November 4, 1890, and the family remained in Winona until 1893 when Mr. Schuman's mother married Daniel Krueger. The family moved to the farm north of Cresco, where he spent the remainder of his life. At various times during the last three years, Mr. Schuman was employed in Waterloo and Cedar Falls.
Mr. Schuman received his education in the Nichols rural school.
He was married to Lydia Dempewolf March 12, 1912, and they were the parents of two children, Donald Schuman, who died November 6, 1946, and Mrs. Oswald Orum of Hurlong, California. Mrs. Schuman preceded him in death October 27, 1916. His marriage to Thenora Sinland of Harmony, Minnesota, was performed in Minneapolis, June 18, 1919. They were the parents of three children, Harding Schuman, Gale Schuman and Mrs. Curtis Landswerk, all of Cresco, who with their mother survive.
Besides his widow and children, Mr. Schuman is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Nieberllne and Mrs. Alfred Krueger, both of Cresco, and three grandchildren. Also surviving, there are three half-brothers, Ed Krueger, William Krueger and Dan Krueger, all of Cresco, and three half-sisters, Mrs. W. H. Cook of Cresco, Mrs. Frank Lansman of Mllltown, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Henry Clomps of Saint Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
He was preceded In death by one brother, Jake Schuman, four sisters, Hattie Schuman, Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. John Johnson and Mrs. John Walter, one step-sister, Mrs. Thomas Henderson, and one step-brother, Charles Krueger, besides one grandchild.
Among those who attended the funeral services from out-of-town, there were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Morem, Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Morem, Mrs. Henry Morem, Irvin Morem, and Mr. and Mr. Norman Coyle and Norma of Harmony, Minnesota; Theodore Slnland, Mr and Mrs. Arnold Sinland and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chilson of Preston, Mr. and Mrs. Wllliam Rassman of Ridgeway, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Buhlmann of Granger, and Mr. and Mrs. Oren Morem of Austin, as well as other friends and relatives from Cresco, Calmar and Schley.
