The death of Daniel Weatherly occurred at his home northeast of Riceville at five o'clock Sunday morning, March 11, after a long lingering illness.
Mr. Weatherly was born at Mayville, New York, March 30, 1854, coming west when quite young. He spent most of his life in Iowa. He lived for over thirty years at Davenport, engaged in contract work, house building and railroad work.
In 1876 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Mulick, who lives to mourn his loss. Surviving besides his wife are two children, William, at home and Mrs. Geo. A Brown of Ordway, Colorado, his mother, one brother and one sister of Milace, Minn.
The funeral was help Tuesday morning with services at Immaculate Conception church, and buiral at Immaculate Conception cemetery. The pall bearers were old boyhood friends, Jerry Cashman, John Burke, Jay Schultheis, Warren Coffee, Fred Jacobus, and Barney Quinn.
