Lewis C. Cutting was born in Topsom, Vt., March 16, 1848, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Reif, at Los Angeles, Cal., Dec. 17, 1914.
In the spring of 1856 he came with his parents to Jamestown, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.
He united with the Baptist church when about eighteen years old, and was deacon of the church for several years.
On March 16, 1974, he was married to Abbie T. Crittenden. To Mr. and Mrs. Cutting five children where born, three of whom are living: Mrs. C. O. Shupe of North Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Martin Thielen and Mrs. J. S. Reif of Los Angeles, Cal.
In 1890 he moved from the farm and went into the bakery business in Riceville, where he continued to reside until 1909, when he and Mrs. Cutting removed to the West, spending the time in Washington and California.
He leaves to mourn his loss, besides the wife and three daughters, six grandchildren and one brother and one sister, F. A. Cutting and Mrs. O. C. Humphrey of Riceville, also many other relatives and friends, whose sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
