Joseph T. Stockdale, of whose death mention was made last week, was born in Ohio in 1830, and died Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 1912, after a lingering decline, aged 81 years, 8 months, and 13 days.

At an early age he moved to Indiana, where he was married to Mary Hicks. They then went to Clayton county, Iowa, and later moved to a farm north of Saratoga. For the past twenty years he, with his wife who survives him, have lived Riceville.

He enlisted while in Indiana in the 25th Indiana Volunteer infantry and served 3 years and 6 months, getting an honorable discharge.

The funeral services were held at the home, in charge of the G. A. R. Post of which he was a member, and conducted by Rev. P. P. Pease of the M. E. church.

Besides the wife, five children remain, David and Albert Stockdale, Mrs. Lizzie Stocks, Mrs. Carrie Teeple and Mrs. Ella Nichols.
