Last Thursday occured the death of Mrs. Sophia Peitzje, wife of August Peitzke, after a lingering disability beginning with a paralytic stroke about two years ago, followed with another a short time ago which resulted in her death.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church Saturday afternoon, participated in by the relatives and many friends, which on account of her long residence in this vicinity and the regard in which she was held, were numerous.

Interment was made in Riceville cemetery.

Mrs. Peitzke was born Oct. 16, 1856, at Albany, N. Y., and came to Elma when thirteen years old, or 1969. Five years later she was united in marriage to August Peitzke and came to Jamestown township, on their farm where they reared their family and lived up to three or four years ago, when they moved to Riceville.

Relatives remaining are her husband, August Peitzke; Mrs. Lucy Holdren and Clara Peitzke, daughters; and Robert Peitzke, a son; other immediate relatives are the mother Mrs. Mary Schreiber and a sister Mrs. Fred Neumuth, both of Minneaspolis, and a grandchild Marie Holdren.

Relatives from away who returned to the burial were, Gertrude and Mamie Neumuth of Minneapolis, Fred Paul and Will Peitzke of Clear Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peitzke of LuVern, Iowa, Herman Peitzke of Woden, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. John Heinmiller of Elma, Mrs. Gus Homeyer of Alta Vista and Mr. and Mrs. D. Holdren and child of McVille, N. D.
