James Manning DuBois was born in West Bolton, Brome county, Canada, Aug. 31, 1829, and died at Riceville, Iowa, Aug. 17, 1906, aged 77 years, 11 months and 17 days.

He has been more or less of an invalid for the past five years, during which time he has been tenderly cared for by loving friends.

On March 5, 1856, he was married to Elizabeth Holsapple at St. Armand, West Canada. To them were given two daughters, Mrs. Minnie T. Cole and Mrs. Frances H. Hoag, both of whom with their families were privileged to help care for him in his last illness.

The mother went home Feb. 21, 1895, and on Oct. 4, 1900, Mr. DuBois was united in marriage with Miss Laura Comstock of Elma, Iowa, at which place they made their home until about a year ago, when they removed to Riceville, where they lived until his death.

He was a kind husband and a tender, loving father, best loved and appreciated by those who knew him best.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at the home by Rev. F. H. Linn, after which the remains were taken to Osage for burial. The family has the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
