Michael Mulick was born in the county of Roscomon, Ireland, September 8, 1820, and died at Davenport, Iowa, November 23, 1902, thus making his age at the time of his death 82 years, two months, and fifteen days.

Mr. Mulick came to America at the age of 27, and settled at Port Jervis, N. Y., where he remained for eight years. He then moved to Dodge county, Wisconsin, and engaged in farming, where he resided for eleven years. He came to Riceville June 20, 1866, and secured the farm one and one-half miles northeast of town which was his home until November, 1900, when with his good wife he went to Davenport to reside with a daughter, Mrs. Daniel Weatherly. Here they made their home until Mr. Mulick was called to that home eternal, on Sunday, November 23, 1902.

The remains were brought to Riceville, where a funeral service was conducted by Father O'Brien at the Catholic church, and then taken to the Ceclia cemetery for interment. Death came as a general breaking down from old age.

Nine children came to bless the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mulick, five of whom are now living; M. C. Mulick of Loop city, Nebr., Mrs. Daniel Weatherly of Davenport, T. P. Mulick of Council Bluffs, Mrs. John Cannon of Sanborn, and E. J. Mulick of Vernon county, Wisconsin. The wife and children were all present to the funeral.

Mr. Mulick had lived to a ripe old age and met death with that peace and reconciliation of one who has been honest and true, A large part of his life was spent in this community and the esteem in which he was held attests to the high character and sterling qualities of the man. The old settlers mourn his death and speak in the highest terms of him as a neighbor and a man. His life was one of thrift and industry, with little care for ostentation or show. It was one of those home lives, devoted to his wife and children, who reverence the memory of a kind and loving husband and father.
