SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF MRS. NANCY A. WARREN

Nancy Amelia Fassett was born near Darlington, Lafayette county, Wisconsin, September 19th, 1854, being the eldest daughter of Lucien and May Ann Fassett. In June of 1855, her parents removed to Jamestown township, Howard county, Iowa, where she lived until after she was married. In 1869 she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist church, under the supervision of Elder Mapes. On the 17th day of November, 1870, she was united to Mr. Willard A. Warren in the holy bonds of wedlock. In 1872 she, with her husband, removed to Flood Creek, in Butler county, Iowa, where they lived for two years, when, in company with her husband, she returned to Jamestown, Iowa, where Mr. Warren purchased a farm on which they lived until December, 1879, when they removed to Garrison township, Crow Wing county, Minnosota, and took a homestead on the shores of Borden Lake, where they resided in happiness until 1887, when she and her husband removed to East Brainerd. Here they resided for 19 months, when Mrs. Warren began to sigh for the country home on the banks of Borden Lake, so in October, 1888, Mr. Warren again removed his family back to the old home in Garrison where he and his wife agreed to pass the remainder of their days. And there, in 1890, she united with the German Methodist church, under the supervision of Elder Entsinger, of East Brainerd, who organized a class at Garrison. In 1893 a Mr. Babcock, minister of the Methodist church, took up the work in Garrison, and Mrs. Warren then united with the Methodist class, that being her old church home. There she took an active part in Sunday school and church work, until Dec. 22nd, 1896, when she came to East Brainerd to remain with relatives through an expected illness. On Jan. 9th, 1897, a little son was born to them, which died Jan. 11th, and on Jan. 15th Mrs. Warren was taken with septicema, and on Feb. 2nd, at 6:30 a.m., life departed.

Mrs. Warren was a faithful, Christian women, and gave testimony on her death bed that she was prepared to meet her God. She was also a faithful, loving wife and an indulgent mother. The union between herself and Mr. Warren seems to have been an exceptionally happy one, and was blest with eleven children. ten of whom survive her. The family have often been designated by near friends as the "happy family," and Mrs. Warren was heard to say to friends during her last sickness that their honeymoon had lasted all through their married life. Mrs. Warren was kind and gentle to all she met, and was beloved by all who know her. She was one who never had an enemy. The family in her death have lost a faithful, gentle, loving and patient wife and mother, and the neighbors have lost a kind and sympathetic friend, and the church has lost a faithful praying Christian, but all this loss is her great gain for she has fought the good fight, she has finished her course, and now is at rest. Mrs. Warren was 42 years, 4 months and 14 days old. A husband and ten children, and many friends mourn her loss.

The remains were taken to Garrison, their home, for interment. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Opie from the Garrison school house, and the body laid to rest in the family burying ground at Garrison.

THEY HAVE LAID HER TO REST---
Wife, mother and friend
Her troubles forever are o'er
She is sleeping at last, and sweet sleep of the just
She has passed to the beautiful shore.

There is one vacant place in the once happy home
That never again can be filled
God pity the mourners, how oft will they list
For the voice that forever is stilled.

There is one consolation, however, for them
She trusted her Lord to the end
They may know she is happy with Jesus above
At rest with her Saviour and friend.

And sooner or later they will all meet again
If they trust in their Saviour and King
In an unbroken family around the white throne
Though ages eternal they'll sing.
