MARRIED.
An interesting and beautiful home wedding occurred at the Baptist parsonage last Saturday evening, when Miss Edna Mae Pettit became the wife of Walter J. Dell. The ceremony was performed by the bride’s father, Rev. J. A. Pettit, the closing prayer being offered by Rev. W. A. Bockoven. Immediate relatives of the contracting parties were present.
The wedding march was played by the bride’s sister, Miss Eva Pettit, and Miss Florence Patterson sang the selections: “Though Love Be Blind” and “I Love You Truly.” The room was tastefully decorated with autumn leaves, goldenrods and the Stars and Stripes above the bridal party. The bride was gowned in tapue{sic} satin, and the groom wore his regulation military uniform.
Thus is marked the crowning of a romance begun in school days. Both bride and groom graduated from Cresco high school in the class of ’17.
The groom, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Dell, was born near Cresco and has spent practically all his lifetime in this vicinity. He enlisted in the Aviation Service last spring and has been stationed for some time at Austin, Texas. He is now to be transferred to Camp Dix and left Tuesday to take up his duties ot{sic} that post.
The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Pettit. She came to Cresco with her parents four years ago, when her father became the pastor of the Baptist church. She will continue her work as saleslady in the Mott store.
Both bride and groom are charming young people, and none are more highly esteemed.
Congratulations and best wishes are theirs from a host of admirers and friends.
