Cresco Plain Dealer Sept. 15, 1916 P-3 C-4

FORMER CRESCO BOY MARRIED
(From Elliott Graphic.)
A very quiet wedding was solemnized at nine o’clock Wednesday morning at the Methodist parsonage in this city, when Miss Lulu Mae, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hinman, became the bride of Mr. Arthur M. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Smith of Cresco, Iowa. The impressive ceremony of the Methodist church was used by Rev. D. B. S. Prather, pastor of the church, only the parents of the groom and a sister of the bride being present.
Immediately after the ceremony the wedding party went to the home of the bride where they were met by a small company of relatives and friends who offered the newly wedded couple their heartiest congratulations, after which a delightful three-course breakfast was served by the Misses Opal Davis and Grace Geesaman. Shortly after the breakfast had been served the happy couple drove to Red Oak in “Jim” Holtmyer’s car where they caught the train for Omaha at which place they will spend a few days. It is the intention of the bride and groom to take a trip later on, at which time they will visit at the home of the groom’s parents in Cresco, Iowa. After November 1st they will be at home to their many friends in the residence now occupied by Clyde Martin and wife in the east part of the city.
The bride is a young lady who was born and raised in Elliott and has spent her entire life here. For the past few years she has been in an employee of the Elliott Mercantile Co., and in this capacity she has made a host of friends. Until recently she was a member of the Nightingale Choral club and has unusual musical ability. She is a young lady of high ideals, a splendid character and sterling in every respect. She is admirably fitted to take up the responsibil{i}ties of married life.
The groom is a splendid type of young manhood. For the past two or three years he has been employed as bookkeeper at the Elliott Savings Bank, in which position he will continue upon his return. He is an upright, industrious young man with a reputation second to none, and although he has been a resident of this city but a few years, he has made many friends all of whom speak of him in the very highest of terms.
Art and Lulu, for such they are known to the editor of the Graphic, are a jolly couple, and on behalf of their many friends, the Graphic extends congratulations, wishing for them the best and most they can possibly get out of life. May they be happy, prosperous and contented.
