Meredith-McCook Nuptials.
On Wednesday evening March 31st, the hospitable home of John McCook was the scene of a very pretty wedding at which time the eldest daughter, Allie Mae, was given in marriage to C. G. Meredith, of Minneapolis.
The rooms were beautifully decorated the color scheme of green and pink being effectively carried out by the use of smilax and pink roses, while the shades of the electric lights were correspondingly decorated.
The guests upon their arrival were received at the door by the little Misses Maizie Plummer and Catherine Patter-son.
Promptly at seven o’clock, Mrs. Dr. Allen with her usual charm of voice sang “Somewhere a Voice is Calling Me.” At the conclusion of this, Miss Julia Kessell at the piano ably rendered Mendelssohn’s Wedding March to the strains of which the bridal couple came slowly down the stairs and took their place in a large window which was specially decorated for the occasion, where they were met by Dr. D. T. Robertson who pronounced the words which made the couple one, the simple ring ceremony being used. Little Miss Catherine Patterson, dressed in white, preceded the bridal couple, scattering white rose petals in their path.
The bride was becomingly attired in a simple gown of white satin and wore a dainty white veil. Her bridal bouquet was composed of white sweet peas and lilies-of-the-valley.
After the ceremony and the customary accompanying congratulations, dainty refreshments were served to the bridal couple and their guests by the Misses Florence McCook, Alice Clemmer, Grace and Ruth Patterson, arid Birdie Fuller.
Among the out of town guests were Mrs. Meredith, mother of the groom, Harold Smith, Jack Northy and Chas. White, of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson McCook and Mrs. Rob McCook, of Sumner, Iowa, Matt McCook, of Riceville, Mrs. H. E. Holbrook, of Osage, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Adams, of Decorah, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Cray and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stevens, of Lime Springs; Mrs. Dr. Weds, of Aberdeen, S. Dak., and Vincent Hay, of Fairmont, Minn.
Mr. and Mrs. Meredith left on the night train for Chicago and other eastern points, and upon their return will remain for a time in Cresco before locating permanently.
The PLAIN DEALER by virtue of a life long acquaintanceship with the bride joins with her legions of Cresco friends in wishing the young couple all that is brightest and best for their future lot.
