Wedding Anniversary.
March 18th, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hayes passed the 50th anniversary of their marriage. There were present at their home, three of their children and some of their grandchildren. Two daughters and their families living in Nebraska being absent on account of sickness. A sumptuous three course dinner was served and all enjoyed a pleasant day. The worthy couple were presented with some very valuable gifts from their children.
Mr. and Mrs. Hayes were among the first families who settled in Howard county and have spent almost the entire fifty years of their wedded life in New Oregon twp., Mr. Hayes being one of the successful farmers of that twp. for about thirty years. The family retired from the farm and moved to Cresco seventeen years ago to enjoy the fruits of their hard labor.
