O’Donnell—Cole Nuptials.
On Monday, April 26, 1909, occurred the marriage of Mr. Alphonso O’Donnell to Miss Edith Mary Garafelia Cole. The ceremony was performed in the Immaculate Conception church by the pastor, Rev. F. J. Gunn. Promptly at 6 o’clock a. m. the strains of the wedding march played by Miss Rachel Cashman, announced the arrival of the bridal party. The bride was attired in a beautiful blue suit and wore a light blue hat to match. She was attended by Miss Myrtle Kane. The groom was attended by Mr. Dennis Tierney.
After the ceremony at the church a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was served.
Mr. and Mrs. O’Donnell were given many beautiful and useful presents, among them being several pieces of Haviland china, several sets of silver spoons, berry spoon, sugar bowl and cream pitcher, table linen, toweling, a rug and many other articles. The bride’s father presented her with a check for $20.
The happy couple will go immediately to housekeeping on the J. E. Roche farm west of town.
The bride, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Cole, is a charming ing{sic} young lady who enjoys a wide acquaintance in this section. Since the close of her work in the Elma high school she worked at the switch board in the local office of the Northern Iowa Telephone Co., and was an efficient, obliging operator. She is thoroughly trained in domestic duties and will make an ideal helpmate to her husband. The groom is an industrious man of exemplary habits and is well and favorably known. This paper joins their many friend in wishing them much happiness and prosperity.—Elma New Era.
