Last evening a number of friends perpetrated a surprise on Mr. and Mrs. John Culbert to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. They descended upon the unsuspecting home about nine o’clock and until a late hour the hours were pleasantly spent in progressive cinch and the careful disposition of a dainty lunch in which several, including the writer, signally distinguished themselves. Before the company departed they presented Mr. and Mrs. Culbert with a beautiful picture as a souvenir of the occasion and John was giuen{sic} so many attentions and et ceteras that he came down town the next morning still smacking his lips in blissful remembrance.
