Shuttleworth-Marshall Nuptials.
On Saturday evening, April 20, 1907, at the residence of the officiating clergyman, Rev. Chas. G. Marshall, brother of the bride, occurred the marriage of Miss Gertrude E. Marshall with Herbert Shuttleworth, of Newton, Iowa.
The house was beautifully decorated with arbor vitae, tied with white satin ribbon, and pink carnations and roses, the color scheme being in pink. About fifty of the relatives and friends were present to witness the ceremony.
The wedding service was the beautiful Episcopal ring service. An elder brother of the bride, Anthony Marshall, gave away the bride, and her brother C. A. Marshall was master of ceremonies.
The bride wore a gown of white lace net over white silk, and trimmed with English lace gathered with diamond buckles, the bridal veil being that of her mother’s, worn in 1860. The groom wore the conventional black.
The bride is the youngest daughter of the late Rev. C. A. and Eliza Marshall, and was born and raised in Cresco. She is a graduate of the State Normal at Cedar Falls, and was eminently successful as a teacher, having taught, at Wesley, Ia., and in the primary of our public schools.
The groom in partnership with his brother, E. H. Shuttleworth, were engaged in the drug business in Cresco, moving about a year ago to Newton, Ia. He bore an excellent reputation for his integrity and worth.
The bride and groom leave to-day for an extended trip to California and other western points.
The PLAIN DEALER extends congratulations and well wishes, together with numerous other friends, to this most estimable young couple.
