Carver – Swenson Nuptials.
Last evening occurred the marriage of two of our prominent young people, Miss Dora Carver and Mr. John Swenson, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Carver. The house had been profusely decorated for the occasion; sweet peas being the chief decorations. Rev. John Gammons, assisted by Rev. Mr. Payne, of Fayette, performed the marriage ceremony, at promptly 8 o’clock. To the strains of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, the bridal party entered and took their places under a freize of pink and white sweet peas. The bride was beautiful in white embroidered silk chiffon over white silk brocade and carried a shower boquet of white sweet peas. Miss Ruby Beadle was brides-maid and wore a gown of pink and white brocaded mull and carried a shower boquet of pink sweet peas. The groom wore the conventional black, and his brother Mr. Marcus Swenson acted as best man.
The color scheme in the dining room was carried out in white and green; ferns and double white poppies were the table decorations. Dainty refreshments were served by Misses Mildred Band, Frank Caward, Ruth and Milicent Ling.
Miss Carver has grown to womanhood here and has many friends and admirers. She has taught several years in the public school.
Mr. Swenson is connected with the Swenson Faultless Grubbing Factory, and is an upright young man and worthy of the bride he has won.
Mr. and Mrs. Swenson will settle down at the Carver home, taking a trip later in the summer.
The presents were numerous and costly. The out of town guests were: Miss Dora Carver, of Bristol, Wis., Rev. Payne and daughter Margaret, of Fayette, Ia., Miss Simonds, of McGregor, Ia, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams, of Oxford Junction, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Doan, of Hopkinton, Ia.
