Golden Wedding.
The celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Gill at their home east of town on Wednesday last was the occasion of the pleasantest possible social gathering. Their eight children were all present including two daughters from a distance and about thirty old friends took possession of the premises and passed the afternoon in conversation, song and discussing the merits of a bountiful dinner.
Mr. Gill was most thoroughly and properly caned: a handsome gold headed ebony stick being used in this part of the proceedings. Everyone said it served him right and he didn’t seem to resent it a little bit.
The guests dispersed to their homes at the close of the day leaving behind them numerous handsome gifts as tokens of the love and esteem in which their friends and neighbors hold this pleasant old gentleman and his lovely wife.
May they live to enjoy many happy returns of this best and most sacred of days.
