Iowa Plain Dealer January 18, 1898, FP, C7
Married.
CONDON-TIERNEY.—At the church of the Immaculate Conception, Elma, Iowa, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1898, the Rev. F. J. Gunn officiating, occured{sic the marriage of Mr. John Condon, of New Hampton, and Miss Kate Tierney, of Elma, Iowa. After the ceremony had been pronounced, the bridal party assembled at the home of the bride’s father, Mr. Michael Tierney, of Afton township, where an exquisite wedding breakfast was awaiting them. Having done ample justice thereto, the bridal couple were escorted to the C. G. W. depot and departed by the eastbound passenger train, on their wedding tour to Chicago and Milwaukee.
The groom, Mr. John Condon, is a prosperous young farmer of Chickasaw county and is highly spoken of by those who know him best. The bride is too well known to call for much encomium. Suffice to say that she has grown up from childhood in Howard county and is highly respected. During the past seven years she has conducted a successful business in millinery, dry goods and ladies’ furnishings and has demonstrated that she possesses exceptional business ability.
The newly wedded pair have the best wishes of the entire community and with these the News-Register also heartily joins.—Elma News-Register.
