Wednesday, September 30th, at 2:00 o’clock, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rethamel was the scene of a very pretty wedding, when their daughter, Carrie Gladys, was united in marriage to Bert D. Rhienhart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rhinehart, Rev. Damerow of Decorah performing the ceremony.
The bride was daintily attired in a white silk messeline with allover lace, and carried bride’s roses. The groom wore a suit of blue serge. Miss Inez Rhinehart was her sister’s maid of honor. She wore a pale green brocaded gown and carried pink carnations. Fred Kleinow, a cousin of the bride, was Mr. Rhinehart’s best man. Little Mary Rethamel, a sister of the bride, was flower girl, and Margarette Reynolds was ring bearer. The wedding march was played by Miss Alfreda Kleinow. A six o’clock dinner was served to about 200 invited guests. Mrs. Rethamel was assisted in serving by Mesdames Rhinehart and Reynolds and the Misses Lillian Swestka, Clara Ohmacht and Matilda Milota.
The evening was spent in music and games. The happy young couple were the recipients of many useful and valuable presents.
Among those who attended the wedding from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Fingalson. Joe Hefner and wife and Ida Rethamel from Nora Springs; Mrs. Harry Reynolds and two children and Alfreda and Fred Kleinow from McGregor; Peter Hefner, wife and daughter Hazel from Monona; and Geo. Eppens and wife from Calmar.
A long and happy life is the wish of their many friends.
Transcriber’s Note: The groom’s last name is spelled three different ways. The spelling that is used the most is Rhinehart.
