In researching my childrens family history I cama across Carl/Charles Anderson born 1875, March 24. In the Luthern Church in Swedesburg it states Josephine Anderson as his mother and Edward Lauger as his father. He used Anderson and later moved to Kansas City Kansas worked selling and was in San Francisco earthquake 1906 never heard from, and assumed dead. Since they had so many mass graves with no names etc. we would not learn more there My question, they came from Sweden but Carl was born in Swedesburg. Do children take the name of mother and not father? I do have a church record that states they are his parents.
